Let's not believe that the musical aspect of the fantasy world began with the movie scores of fantasy films. Already Romantic composers were keen on writing music for legends, fairy tales and imaginary beings. Modern movie scores were the direct continuation of such music. We can observe this flow at this very concert where we can listen to the Russian Mussorgsky's music inspired by folk sagas, the midnight danse macabre by the French Saint-Saëns, the visions of Berlioz's fantasy-symphony from the Romantic Period and The Sorcerer's Apprentice and Harry Potter from the 20th and 21st centuries. Imagination, as we see it, cannot be limited by time or genre. Let us be charmed by music the whole evening.
